Childhood cancer in Mexico is the leading cause of death from disease. Around 5 thousand new cases are reported per year.
At Casa de la Amistad for Children with Cancer we are convinced that together we make a difference to fight cancer. That is why in 2016, thanks to the support of Direct Relief and Baxter, we started the “Managing your Health” program. With this program, we have covered the costs of transportation to hospitals for nearly 5,000 pediatric cancer patients and their parents, allowing them access to life-saving treatments. Lack of access to reliable transportation is reported as one of the main barriers to care for 73 percent of the patients served by the program.
In this way we prevent beneficiaries from abandoning their treatment.
Thanks to the success achieved during the first phase of the program, in 2017 Direct Relief and Baxter renewed their support and we continue to make a difference in the lives of more children and youth. To learn more about "Managing your Health" click
